Baku, Azerbaijan, Mar. 6
By Huseyn Veliyev - Trend:
The US company IBM (International Business Machines Corporation) is exploring future cooperation with the High Tech Park of the ministry of communications and high technologies of Azerbaijan, IBM CEO in Azerbaijan Ilya Kravtsov told Trend Mar.6.
He said that IBM has different systems of interaction with technology parks and universities to develop the academic environment, support the experts, start-ups, etc.
"Of course, there will be cooperation with the High Tech Park, in this regard, we will work and see what we can do," he said.
IT market of Azerbaijan is a very promising one, despite the fact that some difficulties associated with a decrease in demand for oil resources and the devaluation of the national currency have been observed lately, according to the head of the Azerbaijani representation of IBM.
"The main difference in the Azerbaijani market from countries of the region is potential and growth rates, which the country has been demonstrating over the past 10 years," said Kravtsov. "GDP of the country during this period increased by 3 times, which was not observed in any of the Central Asian countries. Certain slowdown in the market, which was recorded last year, has its objective reasons. But in general, I positively assess our ability to grow and I am confident that we will be able to increase our presence in the market."
The main emphasis of IBM in the Azerbaijani market will be placed on competence in the field of software, increasing cooperation with the banking, telecommunication, and public sector, according to the head of the representative office.
