The Azerbaijani State Customs Committee announced a decrease in the volume of foreign trade operations by 40.62 percent in January 2016 compared to the same period of 2015, the committee said Feb. 18.
The volume of foreign trade operations reached 1.1 billion manat.
Azerbaijan's foreign trade partners for this period numbered 114 countries.
Black ink worth $214.27 million was formed in foreign trade operations during this period.
Foreign trade surplus exceeded $703.59 million in January 2015.
Around 2,011 legal and physical entities were involved in foreign economic activities during this period, 1,333 being legal entities and 678 physical entities, according to the report.
Exports reached $657.08 million, decreasing by 48.57 percent compared to January 2015.
The public sector share in export operations was estimated at over $604.87 million, the private sector share -$42.34 million and physical entities' share- $9.86 million.
Imports hit $442.81 million, which is 22.95 percent less compared to January 2015.
The public sector share in import operations hit $40.36 million, private sector share- $382.66 million and physical entities share - $19.79 million.
Around 543 kinds of goods were exported from Azerbaijan and 3,299 imported to Azerbaijan in January 2016.
