Azerbaijani foreign trade surplus exceeds $240M in Jan.-Feb.

The Azerbaijani State Customs Committee announced a decrease in the volume of foreign trade operations by 45.51 percent in January-February 2016 compared to the same period of 2015, the committee said March 17.

The volume of foreign trade operations reached 2.2 billion manat.

Azerbaijan's foreign trade partners for this period numbered 132 countries.

Black ink worth over $243.59 million was formed in foreign trade operations during this period.

Foreign trade surplus exceeded $627.44 million in January-February 2015.

Around 3,672 legal and physical entities were involved in foreign economic activities during this period, 2,139 being legal entities and 1,533 physical entities, according to the report.

Exports reached $1.22 billion, decreasing by 47.59 percent during a year.

The public sector share in export operations was estimated at $1.07 billion, the private sector share -$140.25 million and physical entities' share- $16.29 million.

Imports hit $979.87 million, which is 42.67 percent less compared to January-February 2015.

The public sector share in import operations hit $102.52 million, private sector share- $820.41 million and physical entities share - $56.94 million.

Around 968 kinds of goods were exported from Azerbaijan and 4,648 imported to Azerbaijan in January-February 2016.
