Tehran, Iran, Feb. 12

Turkish auto parts suppliers are interested to take part in Iran’s auto sector projects, Alper Kanca, head of Turkish Association of Automotive Parts and Components Manufacturers, said.
“We want to make investment in Iran and involve in research and development projects of the Islamic Republic’s auto industry,” Kanca said.
He made the remarks in the opening ceremony of the 4th Iran Automotive Industry International Conference (IAIIC) in Tehran Feb. 12, Trend correspondent reported from the event.
He said that Turkish auto output and export have witnessed boom by 50 and 70 percent respectively in last ten years, adding that while Turkey’s domestic car market is smaller compared to Iran’s market, it enjoys more powerful export potential in comparison to the Islamic Republic.
“Competition in the automotive industry can contribute to the Iranian companies’ development and we will step within this framework,” said Kanca, whose company, Kanca Dovme Celik, produced engine parts for Iranian auto makers for 20 years prior to the sanctions.
Turkey is the main auto exporter to the EU, Kanca said, adding that the country exported over one million cars to Europe in 2016.
