Trading volume sharply up at Kazakh Stock Exchange

Trading volume on Kazakhstan Stock Exchange (KASE) amounted to almost 24.68 trillion tenges in January- February 2017, which is by 49.7 percent more than in the same period of 2015, said the message on KASE website.

The trading volume in US dollar equivalent increased by 67.9 percent to almost $76.1 billion in this period.
Meanwhile, the January-February trading volume increased by 61.9 percent in tenge and by 67.5 percent in US dollar equivalent compared to the previous two-month period.

The volume of foreign currency trading on KASE, including currency swap operations, increased by 40.9 percent and amounted to 12.98 trillion tenges in January-February 2017, as compared to the same period of 2015.
The volume of foreign currency trading in US dollar equivalent increased by 58.6 percent to $40.06 billion during the reporting period.

Meanwhile January-February foreign currency trading increased by 96.7 percent in tenge and by 103.5 percent in US dollar equivalent compared to November – December 2016.

In 2016 trading volume on KASE amounted to 94.55 trillion tenges, which is 2.8 percent more than in the same period of 2015. The trading volume in US dollar equivalent decreased by 35.7 percent to $276.27 billion in 2016.
