Kazakhstan to build 602 kilometers of roads in 2017

Kazakhstan plans to build 602 kilometers of roads until the yearend within seven projects initiated earlier, Investment and Development Minister Zhenis Kasymbek told parliament members at the government hour on April 10, the ministry said in a message.

These projects include reconstruction of such major highways as Astana-Karaganda, Center-East, Beineu-Aktau, Center-West, Kapshagay -Taldykorgan, Petropavlovsk- Russian border and Uralsk-Kamenka.

Moreover Kazakhstan plans to initiate 16 new projects on reconstruction of highways with a total length of 3,200 kilometers in 2017. The projects will be funded from Republican budget and by international financial institutions.

Kasymbek noted that, as much as 356.2 billion tenge (313.02 tenges = $1) will be invested in roads reconstruction projects in 2017, including 143.5 billion tenges from Kazakh National Fund within the Government program of development and integration of transport system infrastructure. In 2017-2019 the program envisages implementation of 23 projects with a length of 4,400 kilometers worth 1.7 trillion tenge.
