Turkmenistan’s GDP growth rate was 6.4 percent in the first half of 2017, the country’s President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov said at an enlarged meeting of the government, Turkmenistan State News Agency reported July 8.
He said that the growth of revenues of the Turkmen state budget made it possible to increase the volume of average monthly salary for those working in large and medium-sized enterprises of the country by nine percent, and the national currency, the Turkmen manat, remains stable.
The growth rate was 3.2 percent in industrial sector, 4 percent in construction, 10.9 percent in transportation and communication sector, 9.4 percent in trade, 3.8 percent in agriculture, and 10.3 percent in the sphere of services, he noted.
“Large-scale construction of industrial and social facilities is underway in Turkmenistan, about 1,900 large objects worth nearly $47 billion are being built in the country, and almost 1,800 of them are being built by local constructors,” Berdimuhamedov said.
