Turkey discloses unemployment rate

The unemployment rate decreased by 0.7 percent (by 104,000 people) and reached 10.6 percent in Turkey in September 2017 as compared to September 2016, the Turkish Statistical Institute said in a message published on its website Dec. 15.

As of late September 2017, 3.419 million people in the country were considered unemployed.

Unemployment rate in non-agricultural sectors decreased by 0.9 percent and reached 12.8 percent, said the message.

The unemployment rate among people aged 15-24 reached 20 percent (an increase of 0.1 percentage points). Meanwhile, the unemployment rate among people aged 15-64 - 10.8 percent (a decrease of 0.8 percentage points).

Economically active population increased by 1.233 million people and reached 28.797 million people in Turkey as of late September 2017. Thus, the number of employed increased by 1.1 percentage points up to 47.9 percent.

In the reporting period, the number of those employed in agriculture sector increased by 197,000 people, while in the non-agricultural sector, their number increased by 1.36 million people.
