EXPO 2017 boosted small and medium business in Kazakhstan

EXPO 2017, held in Kazakhstan in summer-autumn of the previous year, stimulated the growth of a number of segments of small and medium business, said Minister of National Economy of Kazakhstan Timur Suleimenov at a meeting of the government on January 11.

"The EXPO exhibition attracted a significant number of tourists, who encouraged demand in the domestic market, expanding the opportunities for small and medium business in the retail, restaurant and hotel business segments, as well as the service sector as a whole," said Suleimenov, Kazakh media reported.

According to the minister, transport services increased by 4.8 percent, housing and accommodation services by 4.2 percent, communications by 3.3 percent, trade by 3.2 percent, and real estate transactions by 2.4 percent.

EXPO 2017, held from June 10 to Sept. 10 in Astana, was visited by 4 million people.
