Manpower in Uzbekistan increases

The quantity of manpower resources in Uzbekistan increased in 2017 by 1.1 percent in comparison with 2016 and made 18.7 million people, the Ministry of Employment and Labor regulations of Uzbekistan told Trend.

Most of manpower resources are observed in Samarkand district – 2.09 million people, Fergana district – 2.03 million people and Kashkadar district - 1.79 million people. In Tashkent - 1.54 million people.

The number of employed population increased by 1.7 percent in the reporting period, and reached 13.5 million people, and it`s share in the total number of manpower resources made a total of 72.4 percent, said the ministry.

The most increase is observed in field of transport and storage of goods -.2.8 percent, financial and insurance activities – 2.4 percent, construction – 2.1 percent, trade – 1.9 percent.

In terms of economic activity, the most increase was observed in agriculture, forestry and fishery – 27.3 percent, industry – 13.5 percent, trade- 11 percent, construction -9.5 percent and education - 8.2 percent.

Share of employed population in the public sector decreased from 17.5 percent in 2016 to 17.3 percents in 2017 and accordingly increased from 82.5 to 85.7 percent in the private sector.

The number of people looking for work made a total of 873,000 people and the level of unemployed people compared to total number of employed population – 5.8 percent, said the ministry.
