Azerbaijani Justice Ministry signs big contracts within WB project

The Azerbaijani Justice Ministry has concluded four contracts within the joint Judicial Services and Smart Infrastructure Project (JSSIP) with the World Bank (WB), a source in the Azerbaijani government told Trend Feb. 7.

The total value of contracts exceeds $1.1 million.

According to the source, the companies with which contracts were signed will help to develop an action plan and a gender strategy of the justice sector, implement a pilot project to render legal assistance and a number of other services within JSSIP project.

The source said that among the companies that will participate in the project is the Azerbaijan Accountants and Risk Professionals Association (ARPA).

Judicial Services and Smart Infrastructure Project (JSSIP) was approved in 2014. Its total cost is $200 million, $100 million of which accounts for the government share. The JSSIP project is expected to be implemented until December 31, 2018.

The project is aimed at increasing the transparency of the judicial system and the quality of services to render legal assistance to citizens, especially special layers of the population, for example, internally displaced people and residents of remote districts of Azerbaijan.

Azerbaijan joined the WB in 1992.
