Azerbaijan needs to stimulate expansion of non-cash payments , Azerbaijani Minister of Taxes Mikayil Jabbarov said.
Jabbarov made the remarks at the conference "Taxes: Transparency: Development" in Baku Feb. 13.
"It is necessary to stimulate the expansion of non-cash payments, as well as the interest of businesses and citizens in non-cash settlements. The taxpayer must be sure that only transparent activities will ensure his stable profit and development, "Jabbarov said.
The minister added that another important task facing the ministry is the legalization of the "shadow economy".
"Today, this problem is observed all over the world. Unofficial employment and double bookkeeping are especially common in our country. The tax authorities use all possible means to suppress such facts, but this is not enough. It is necessary to use all legal and economic levers for full legalization of business activities, peculiarities of informal employment, as well as wages, for correct declaration of income and transparency of reporting, "the minister said.
