Turkey to allocate subsidies for development of small and medium-sized enterprises

Turkey will allocate subsidies worth 524 million liras for the development of small and medium-sized enterprises (KOBİ), the Turkish Ministry of Science, Industry and Technology said in a message on March 5.

The subsidies will be provided to 2,049 small and medium-sized enterprises, within the framework of the government's program "Goal 2023". The subsidies to KOBI will be issued annually.

The Institute of Statistics of Turkey (TUİK) reported that 55 percent of Turkey's exports account for the share of small and medium-sized enterprises, while the share of imports of small and medium-sized enterprises is 38 percent.

According to official data, 73 percent of employment accounts to the share of small and medium-sized enterprises in Turkey.

In February 2018, the total volume of Turkish exports amounted to $13.1 billion, showing an increase of 9.02 percent compared to February 2017.

During the reported period, imports to Turkey reached $18.9 billion, showig an increase of 19.64 percent compared to February 2017.
