Kazakhstan, China to launch new joint investment projects

Kazakhstan and China will launch six new joint investment projects in 2018, Kazakh Minister of Investment and Development Zhenis Kasymbek said at a press conference, the press service of the ministry said.

"Joint Kazakh-Chinese projects will be implemented in almost all regions of Kazakhstan. Currently, 11 projects worth $7 billion are underway, including 6 projects that we plan to launch soon. The joint cooperation will include many fields, including the field of infrastructure, construction, agribusiness, mining and metallurgical complex, machine building and chemical industry. Successful implementation of these projects will create tens of thousands of jobs for Kazakhs," Kasymbek said.

Presently, the list of joint Kazakh-Chinese investment projects includes 51 projects worth $27.7 billion. Four projects worth $143 million in the field of engineering, oil refining, chemical, food industry and logistics have already been implemented in Pavlodar, Kostanay and North-Kazakhstan regions.

As part of the ongoing work to attract investors to priority sectors of the economy, the Ministry of Investment and Development has formed a portfolio of investment projects for 2018-2020, which included 140 projects with foreign investments ($43.8 billion).

The government of Kazakhstan has also developed new approaches to stimulate investment in the economy, which have been consolidated in the National Investment Strategy.
