Russia's Transmashholding to buy Kazakh train manufacturer

Russia's Transmashholding CJSC (TMH) signed a memorandum with the Kazakhstan Railways (KTZ), the BRK-Leasing JSC and the Russian Export Center JSC (REC) on the intention to start negotiations on the acquisition of Tulpar-Talgo, a KTZ subsidiary specializing in production of passenger railway cars, the press service of the TMH stated.

The document reads that the sides will also begin negotiations on implementation and financing of the project on delivery of 1,000 passenger cars to Kazakhstan in 2018-2026.

In March 2018, TMH General Director Kirill Lipa said the company plans to supply Kazakhstan with over 1,000 passenger railway cars for 10 years and to purchase the Tulpar-Talgo enterprise. He also noted that TMH is discussing supply of railway cars to Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan.

Transmashholding is the largest Russian company specializing in development and production of railway trains and urban transport systems. The enterprises of TMH Group produce electric locomotives, diesel locomotives, freight and passenger railway cars, as well as electric and metro trains.
