UzCard national processing center of Uzbekistan and UnionPay International (China) signed an agreement on issuing co-badged cards, the press service of UzCard stated on June 7.
According to the information, the document was signed during the visit of the delegation of UzCard to China, when the parties discussed issuing co-badged cards, which will allow carrying out operations in two payment systems.
The decision made by the parties provides for the Aloqa Bank acting as the settlement bank. The first co-badged cards of UnionPay International will be issued in this bank.
It was earlier reported that the co-badged cards will be issued in Uzbekistan from July 1. The agreement signed between the two companies will allow using the new cards both on the territory of Uzbekistan, under the UzCard payment system, and outside, under the UnionPay International payment system.
Uzbekistan has already purchased equipment for card embossing. As of today, the first co-badged cards have already been released in the test mode.
It should be noted that the infrastructure of the Ipak Yuli Bank, Qishloq Qurilish Bank, Agrobank, OFB, Infinbank, Hamkorbank and the National Bank of Uzbekistan are at the integration stage.
Also, active work is underway to reinstall the software of all POS-terminals to accept international UnionPay International cards.
