Twelve aerial cableways will be built in Istanbul, the Ministry of Transport, Shipping and Communications of Turkey told Trend June 27.
The ministry noted that, the construction of aerial cableways contributes to the growth of the number of tourists in Istanbul.
The ministry also noted that, a number of aerial cableways will be built in the European part of Istanbul.
"By 2019, the aerial cableways "Sultanbeyli Golet - Aydos Teleferik"," Beykoz Sultaniye - Karlitepe"," Eyup - Pierre Loti – Miniaturk” "Beykoz Cayiri – Hz. Yusa Tepesi", "Miniatürk-Alibeyköy", "Buyukcekmece Sahil – Tuyap", "Kayisdagi", "Kinaliada", "Aksemsettin - Gaziosmanpasa – Rami" and "Buyukada Ayayorgi-Lunapark Meydani" will be built," the ministry stated.
The ministry said the aerial cableways will be built under the government's "Goal 2023" plan.
Earlier, the Istanbul municipality told Trend that, it is planned to build 12 aerial cableways in Istanbul.
The longest aerial cableway in Turkey is located in the province of Antalya, and its length is 4.3 kilometers.
The first aerial cableway in Turkey was built in 1963 in the province of Bursa.
