Restrictions on duty-free import of consumer goods to Uzbekistan from neighboring countries implemented since July 1 have affected prices for household appliances, the Central Bank of Uzbekistan stated.

According to information, prices on irons went up by 3.1 percent, on electric kettles – by 2.4 percent, on vacuum cleaners – by 1.1 percent.

New regulations on duty-free import of goods through road, railway and river border crossing points were established by the Cabinet of Ministers on June 22.

According to the document, one unit of almost all types of popular household appliances (refrigerator, air conditioner, washing machine, vacuum cleaner, stove, TV, microwave, iron and others) can be imported duty-free during one calendar month.

The Central Bank and State Statistics Committee earlier reported that prices for non-food products and services were the main driver of inflation in the 1H2018.
