Launch dates of two seed processing plants revealed in Azerbaijan(Exclusive)

Shaki seed processing plant in Azerbaijan's north-west will be ready for operation by the end of 2018, the head of the State Seed Fund Emin Aliyev told Trend.

The head of the State Fund noted that the company will meet all modern quality standards.

"The plant will be able to process the seed, pack it, treat it and provide storage. The processing lines for grain crops are designed for a volume of five tons per hour and up to two tons per hour of oilseed crops. The company has storage facilities where the storage volume in the first phase will be 1,500 tons, and in the second 3,000 tons," Aliyev said.

Aliyev also said that, presently, the construction of the Khachmaz seed processing plant is at the final stage.

"Presently, the work of the final phase are carried out in an intensive mode at the Khachmaz plant. The enterprise is expected to be launched until the end of 2018," he added.

The State Seed Fund was established under the Ministry of Agriculture, in accordance with the decree of the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, in order to strengthen the food security of Azerbaijan in view of the increased need of the country for new high-yielding and drought-resistant seeds.
