Azerbaijan plans to increase egg exports in 2019, Chairman of the Azerbaijani Poultry Farmers Society Aydin Veliyev told Trend on Nov. 30.
Veliyev noted that presently, Azerbaijan exports eggs mainly to Afghanistan, Qatar, Iraq and Iran.
"In these countries there is a great demand for chicken eggs, so we intend to expand export volumes in this direction," Veliyev said.
He noted that the annual egg production in Azerbaijan is one billion.
"Poultry products [of Azerbaijan] fully cover the domestic needs of the country, and it contributes to the establishment of supplies to foreign markets," Veliyev said.
The chairman also noted that in the near future, due to the high cost of production compared to other countries, export of poultry meat from Azerbaijan is not expected.
"Today's poultry meat production figures are meant to cover the domestic needs of Azerbaijan," he stressed.
