Iran to produce silicon wafer for first time

Raw materials used in solar batteries will be produced for the first time in Iran in Khomein district of Markazi Province, said Mohammad Reza Hajipour, head of Markazi Province Industry, Mine and Trade Organization, Shata reported.

He said that Mana E&W Development Company has two major production projects in the Saeedi Industrial Park of Khomein District. When these projects are commissioned, more than 360 people will be employed, he noted.

He added that the first project of this company is related to the production of solar batteries and solar panels. More than 260 people will be employed as a result of the implementation of a project with an investment of 1.05 trillion rials (about $25 million), he said.

This project is expected to be commissioned next spring, he noted.

“The second project of the company is related to silicon wafer,” he said. “Silicon wafer is a major part in the production of electrical networks and solar batteries and will be produced for the first time in Iran.”

As many as 100 people will be employed as a result of the implementation of this project with an investment of 4.35 trillion rials (about $103 million), he said.
