Kazakhstan sells nearly 6,000 gold bars

The number of gold bars sold by the National Bank of Kazakhstan is reaching 6,000, Trend reports referring to the Kazakh media.

"The program for the sale and purchase of fine gold bullions for the population was launched by the National Bank in May 2017. As of January 4, 2019, the National Bank has sold 5,924 bars with a total weight of 222.3 kilograms since the launch of the program,” the National Bank said.

Of these, second-tier banks sold to the population 5,770 bars weighing 216.7 kilograms.

At the same time, exchange offices, which were able to participate in the program at the end of 2018, sold to the population 37 bars with a total weight of 810 grams.

The financial regulator noted that the sales of gold bars are expected to increase in 2019.
