Uzbekistan for the first time took part in the exhibition Fruit Logistica Berlin with its booth in 2019, Trend reports via Uzbek media.
The international exhibition Fruit Logistica Berlin held in Berlin, Germany gathered over 78,000 visitors from 135 countries and 3,200 exhibitors from 90 countries this year.
As a leading global business platform for the fresh fruit trade, the exhibition provides a broad overview of the latest innovations, as well as products and services provided in the fresh product supply chain.
German agency GIZ, under the project “Sustainable Rural Development in Uzbekistan” funded by the European Union, alongside with implementing partners with the support of Uzbek Ministry of Economy and Industry, assists in the export of Uzbek agricultural products by examining new markets and establishing international business contacts with customers among manufacturers and processors.
In particular, this project assisted in the participation of 8 fruit producers and processors from project regions (Jizzakh, Kashkadarya, Syrdarya, Namangan and Fergana) in exhibition who were able to present their products at Uzbek stand.
The main purpose of participation was the establishment of business relations, demonstration of agricultural products of Uzbekistan, as well as the search for new markets for export.
One of the results of participation in the exhibition was signing of the Memorandum of Understanding between the farmers' cooperative from the Syrdarya region and the Dutch company, TGS Business & Development Initiatives for the export of fresh pomegranates to Netherlands since autumn 2019.
Moreover, participants discussed the export of dried fruits, melons and vegetables from the project regions to the EU countries.
