Each presidential candidate in Kazakhstan to receive 7.5M tenge

Each presidential candidate in Kazakhstan to get funds from the budget in the amount of 7.5 million tenge (almost $ 20,000) , Trend reports via Kazakh media.

The remaining expenses candidates will cover by themselves.

The Secretary of the Central Election Commission of Kazakhstan, Sabila Mustafina, said how much money is planned to be allocated for each presidential candidate from the budget.

“As we counted, the allocation from the budget will be within the limits of 7.5 million tenge for a candidate, everything else will be from the fund of presidential candidates,” CEC Secretary Sabila Mustafina said.

She clarified that the funds will be allocated from the government reserve and the amount is still inconclusive.

The election fee of presidential candidates amounted to 2.1 million tenge.

“The election fee is 50 minimum wages (from January 2019, the minimum wage is 42,500 tenge). Consequently, the amount of the election fee is 2,125 million tenge. The election deposit is returned to the candidate in the event of being elected to the post or recruited more than 5 percent of the votes in general elections,” the deputy chairman of the commission, Konstantin Petrov said.

The registration of candidates begins from today and will continue until 18:00 (GMT +6) on May 11.

The election campaign of the candidates for the President of Kazakhstan will begin from May 11 immediately after the end of the registration stage and will last until 00.00 am (GMT +6) on June 8.

The elections will be held on the next day on June 9th.
