Uzbekistan plans to produce over 1.6 million automobile tires this year, Trend reports with reference to a resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Uzbekistan.
Of these, 493,300 are intended for the initial configuration of cars of General Motors JSC.
In addition, it is planned to produce 112,000 pieces of agricultural machines and 63,000 meters of conveyor belt.
The government identified Birinchi Rubber Technology Plant as a single supplier of automobile and agricultural tires and allowed state (budget and corporate) customers to purchase its products on the basis of direct contracts.
As previously reported, the production capacity of the plant commissioned last fall amounted to 3 million passenger tires, 200,000 agricultural radial tires and 100,000 meters of conveyor belts per year.
The ceremony of starting the construction of a plant for the production of conveyor belts, agricultural and automobile tires was held in the free industrial zone "Angren" on August 28, 2015.
It was built on the basis of Angren region’s " Rezinotehnika" company. The Chinese company Poly Technologies and the Research and Design Institute of Rubber Industry of China took part in the project worth €162 million.
This is the first export experience of Chinese tire manufacturing technologies in Central Asia.
Until recently, tires were not produced in Uzbekistan and were fully imported from the CIS countries, in particular, Russia, as well as from China.
"Rezinotehnika", before the collapse of the USSR, was the largest manufacturer of rubber products in the country.
The design capacity of the enterprise was 120,000 tires for passenger cars and trailers (profile 41/21), 9 million pairs of special rubber shoes, 600,000 square meters of rubberized fabric and 1000 tons of commercial rubber per year.
