Natural rubber manufacturing plant planned in Kazakhstan's Almaty

The construction of the natural rubber factory is planned in the Kazakhstan’s Almaty region, Trend reports via Kazinform.

David Bassiouni, the CEO of The Bassiouni Group disclosed the information.

“The project on the construction of the factory that will be manufacturing natural rubber from the type of dandelion that is specific to Kazakhstan has been developing for the last two years,” he said.

In September of last year the commercial activity on the project has begun.

“Our goal is to create a natural rubber factory in Kazakhstan’s Almaty region. This year we cultivated 150 hectares of land in the region with the dandelion. We are actively working with Kazakh Invest, Samruk Kazyna, as well as with investors from the US in order to develop this innovative industry. Investments into the project will amount to about $4 million. The investments are required to launch the natural rubber manufacturing in Kazakhstan,” the statement said.

“The company is looking for Kazakh investors, who will be able to invest into this major project. Kazakh rubber could be exported to China, countries of Central Asia and Europe,” the report said.

Furthermore, Kamila Magzieva, the project manager, says that if the project is successfully realized, the annual volume of manufactured rubber will equal up to 900 tons.

“The research on the dandelion is not only directed on manufacturing natural rubber, but also on manufacturing on inulin, which is used in pharmaceuticals, cosmetology, construction industry and in the manufacturing of the bioplastic,” she said.
