Private sector investment in Iran renewable energies hits $2 billion

The volume of investment in Iran's renewable energies from private sector has reached to $2 billion that created job opportunities for 43,450 people in the country.

Iran's Energy Ministry announced that 3.1 billion kilowatt has been produced by renewable energy sources from June 22, 2009 to May 22, 2019. Following the power production from renewable energies, greenhouse gas emission decreased by 2.1 million tons, Trend reports citing IRNA.

The produced renewable energy also helped to reduce usage of fossil fuel in Iran by 889 million cubic meters and saved 689 million liters of water.

According to the statistics, 44 percent of Iran's renewable plants are solar and 40 percent are run by wind, followed by small hydro, heat recycling and biomass power plants.
