A meeting of the expert working group on the Caspian Sea-Black Sea international transport route was held in Bucharest, Trend reports with reference to the Turkmen Foreign Ministry.
The meeting was devoted to the discussion of issues related to the introduction of this cargo transit.
Earlier, Turkmenistan and Romania took the initiative to create a transport and transit corridor “Caspian Sea-Black Sea”, which includes Turkmenistan-Azerbaijan-Georgia-Romania route. In Bucharest, at the level of foreign ministers of the countries concerned, the Bucharest Declaration was adopted, which outlined the political commitment of four countries to this project.
The Foreign Ministry of Turkmenistan reports that representatives of the ministries of foreign affairs, transport, internal affairs, trade, customs, border and migration services, transport and logistics centers of four countries and the seaports of Turkmenbashi, Baku and Constanta cities were invited to the latest event in Bucharest.
The delegations were led by State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Romania Maria Magdalena Grigore, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia Alexander Khvtisiashvili, Head of the Department for Customs Control and Trade Promotion of the State Customs Committee of Azerbaijan Samad Garalov and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Vepa Hajiyev.
Information was exchanged on existing and ready-to-action transport infrastructures along the route, as well as the possibilities of their expansion, the report said.
The parties also considered issues related to the possibility of developing and implementing at the national level regulatory legal acts that contribute to creating favorable conditions for launching this route and enhancing economic cooperation in the East-West direction.
Romania in the first half of 2019 chairs the Council of the European Union.
Earlier it was reported that Constanta may become a point of transshipment of goods transported from the Turkmen port of Turkmenbashi to the EU via Baku, as well as from Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan in the context of ensuring the access of goods from Turkmenistan and other Central Asian countries to European markets.
