New passenger terminal worth 8.9 billion tenge will be put into operation at Kazakhstan’s Korkut Ata airport of Kyzylorda region, the Ministry of Industry and Infrastructural Development told Trend.

“The construction of a new terminal is related to the fact that the existing terminal constructed in 2001 does not have the capacity to receive both international and domestic flights,” the ministry said.

Currently, the bureau of engineering design is developing the feasibility study of the project to be submitted for the State review in July 2019. The estimated duration of the construction is 18 months, whereas the estimated duration of terminal’s operation is 18 years.

The new passenger terminal will meet the international standards of service. Its capacity will equal to no less that 250 passengers an hour and 606,000 people a year.

“The terminal will be provided with two jet bridges, which are equipped to serve to Airbus А-319, А-320-200, А-321 and to Boeing В-757-200, В-767-300,” the ministry added.

The project is to be realized within the public-private partnership. The State partner is the Management of passenger transport and highways of Kyzylorda region. The potential investor is BI Civil Construction company.
