Over 80% of cars in Kazakhstan use petrol

The number of registered cars in Kazakhstan amounted to 310,168 units during first five months of 2019, which is 6.8 percent less than in the same period of last year, Trend reports with reference to Committee of Statistics of Kazakhstan.

Furthermore, as of June 1, 2019, the number of passenger cars registered in Kazakhstan amounted to 3.775 million units.

According to the committee’s data, 83.2 percent of registered cars operate on petrol. Some 14.1 percent of the cars operate on mixed fuel, 2.5 percent on diesel fuel, 0.1 percent of electricity and another 0.1 percent on autogas.

During the reporting period, the number of registered car accidents amounted to 5,690 cases, which is 2.2 percent more than during the same period of last year. Some 8,250 people were injured in these accidents.

As of June 1, 2019, insurance companies made 31,985 payments worth 12.2 billion tenge on Mandatory Vehicle Owner’s Third Party Liability Insurance.
