Mughan Duyu LLC, a rice producer in Azerbaijan's Astara district, has increased output by 15 percent since early 2019 compared to the same period last year, head of the company Talat Mammadov told Trend.
Mammadov noted that the company produced 200 tons of rice in January-July 2019.
"In January-July 2018, the output amounted to 175 tons of rice. These are small volumes, therefore our products are for the needs of the domestic market, and currently, the prospects for rice export are not considered. Our products are sold in Astara, Baku and other cities of the country," he said.
He added that the greatest demand in the domestic market is for new rice varieties imported from Italy, as well as for the Iranian rice variety Hashimi grown in the district.
