Iran is to unload imported animal feed from several ships in its ports, said the managing director of State Livestock Affairs Logistics Inc.

"Currently, 15 ships are in line to discharge at Imam Khomeini Port, while three ships are waiting in Bandar Abbas, and some ships are in Chabahr Port. There is no problem for providing animal feed to animal farmers," said Hamid Varnaseri, Trend reports citing Fars News Agency.

"In addition to Imam Khomeini Port, Bandar Abbas, Chabahar, Amirabad and Noushahr ports also will be used to discharge animal feed that include soy, oat and corn," he added.

"Using the capacities of all ports will facilitate the availability of animal feed to animal farmers and reduce the production costs in these portal regions," he said.

"The transportation price will also drop for livestock producers and will help them during current sanction situation," he added.

"The price of press cake, oat and corn indicate that there is ample amount of cargo in the market, and in case there is fluctuation in any province, the prices will be balanced by using reserves in warehouses," he said.

"Iran has imported more than four million tons of corn, 1.5 million tons of oat, 1.2 million tons of press cake and one million tons of vegetable seeds during first six months of current Iranian year [started March 21, 2019]," he said.

"The company is providing necessary supports to animal farmers to ensure stability at the market. We seek to continue reducing the transportation costs," he added.

The State Livestock Affairs Logistics Inc. is affiliated with the Ministry of Agriculture. The company is dealing with production, storage and supply of animal feed and livestock products.
