Turkish Calik Energy eyes to participate in several projects in Uzbekistan(Exclusive)

Turkish company Calik Energy plans to participate in the construction of Tashkent City Business Center in the capital of Uzbekistan as a subcontractor in 2020, said Emrah Bakir, deputy cite manager of the project for the construction of the second combined cycle gas turbine at Navoi Thermal Power Plant (TPP) in Uzbekistan from Calik Energy’s side.

He made the remarks in an interview to Trend as part of a press tour at the construction site of Navoi TPP JSC.

Among the future projects, Bakir also stressed the construction of combined cycle gas turbine-3 and combined cycle gas turbine-4 at Navoi TPP, in which Calik Energy can also participate as a subcontractor,” he added.

The second power generating unit of the combined cycle gas turbine at Navoi TPP has been constructed since 2017. The project is being implemented in accordance with the presidential decrees dated 2013, 2014 and 2016.

The construction work is being conducted by a consortium of Japanese companies Mitsubishi Corporation and Mitsubishi Hitachi Power System.

"We work here as subcontractors of Mitsubishi Corporation and the Mitsubishi Hitachi Power System," Bakir said.

He noted stressed that 2,400 people work at the construction site, 80 percent of them are local residents, while the rest are specialists from Turkey.

"This is our second project in Uzbekistan,” he said. “Calik Energy was also a subcontractor for the construction of the first combined cycle gas turbine at Navoi TPP."

The construction and commissioning works are nearing completion and the combined cycle gas turbine-2 will be fully commissioned soon.
