Ukraine, Turkmenistan developing co-op in construction sector

President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov received high-ranking representatives of Ukrainian construction sector, namely, Chairman of the Interbudmontazh Construction Association Vladimir Petruk and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Altcom company Alexander Tislenko, Trend reports with reference to the Ukrainian embassy in Turkmenistan.

A constructive conversation about further bilateral cooperation in the construction industry was held during the meeting, the Embassy's message said.

The president emphasized that Turkmenistan is open for long-term productive relations with all interested partners, the Turkmen Dovlet Habarlary state news agency reported.

Stressing Interbudmontazh association’s desire to strengthen its position in the Turkmen market, where all conditions for successful business and a favorable investment climate have been ensured, Petruk informed about the conducted work, the state news agency said.

In turn, Tislenko emphasized the country’s investment attractiveness and the great potential for interaction, including that in the construction of various facilities and roads.

Turkmenistan is an important trade and economic partner of Ukraine in the Central Asian region, the Ukrainian embassy in Ashgabat said.

Ukrainian business entities are involved in the construction of large-scale infrastructure facilities of national importance on the territory of Turkmenistan, the construction of complex engineering communications, oil and gas, industrial and transport facilities, export various products to Turkmenistan and render services.

According to the Ukrainian side, the foreign trade turnover of goods and services between Ukraine and Turkmenistan increased by 13.4 percent in 2018 compared to 2017 and amounted to $298.232 million.

At the same time, the volume of export of goods and services from Ukraine to Turkmenistan increased by 10.6 percent and amounted to $130.006 million. The volume of import of goods and services to Ukraine from Turkmenistan increased by 15.6 percent and amounted to $168.226 million compared to 2017.

The foreign trade turnover of goods between Ukraine and Turkmenistan increased by 32.8 percent in 2018 compared to 2017 and amounted to $201.244 million. The volumes of export of Ukrainian goods to Turkmenistan decreased by 8.5 percent and amounted to $56.836 million. The import of Turkmen goods to Ukraine increased by 61.6 percent and amounted to $144.408 million. The negative balance for Ukraine amounted to $87.572 million.

The foreign trade turnover of services between Ukraine and Turkmenistan decreased by 13 percent and amounted to $96.988 million. The volume of export of Ukrainian services increased by 32 percent and amounted to $73.170 million. The volume of import of services from Turkmenistan to Ukraine decreased by 58 percent and amounted to $23.818 million in 2018. The positive balance of the services of foreign trade turnover for Ukraine amounted to $49.352 million.
