Uzbekistan, Japan may launch production of electric buses

Uzbekistan and Japan are negotiating the launch of production of electric buses, Trend reports referring to the press service of the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

"At the end of this year, the visit of the President of Uzbekistan to Japan is planned. As part of the preparations for this event, agreements were reached on the implementation of projects in the energy sector, transport, agriculture, and the service sector. Negotiations are also underway on projects aimed at the production of chemical products and the construction of a Japanese power plant, technologies, modernization of the water treatment and water supply system, production of city electric buses, ” the presidential press service noted.

Previously Trend reported that a batch of electric buses may be purchased for Tashkent in the near future. This will become possible if the first Belarusian electric bus, already delivered to Tashkent, successfully passes tests.

In addition, Uzbekistan and the Japanese Itochu company were discussing the possibility of expanding the production of new cars within the framework of the visit of presidential delegation to Japan on Oct. 1-5 as part of preparation of Mirziyoyev’s visit.

Mirziyoyev’s visit to Japan is scheduled for December this year.
