Uzbekistan has begun testing the Chinese long-range anti-aircraft missile systems FD-2000 (HQ-9), Trend reports citing the press service of Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Defense.

"The personnel of the military air defense and air force base in Kashkadarya region in southern Uzbekistan take part in the first practical test of an FD-2000 type anti-air missile systems at the Kulkuduk training ground in the Navoi region. The tests of the missile systems aimed at ensuring safety of the country's airspace will be conducted for the first time in the country," the ministry noted.

The FD-2000 long-range anti-aircraft missile system is designed to destroy enemy aircraft, cruise missiles and helicopters at all heights of their combat use, day and night in all weather conditions.

It is the most perfect example of the third generation of Chinese anti-aircraft missile defense systems and is characterized by high combat effectiveness in a difficult jamming environment, including conditions when the enemy is massively using various means of air attack, the ministry said.

This is the first Chinese complex with the ability to intercept tactical ballistic missiles of the ground-to-ground class, read the message.
