Georgia increases wine export

Some 75.6 million bottles of wine (0.75 liters) were exported from Georgia to 53 countries from January through October 2019, which is 11 percent more than in the same period of 2018, Trend reports with reference to the Georgian National Wine Agency.

In monetary terms, exports amounted to $195 million, which is 20 percent more than in the same period in 2018.

Despite the growth in sales in various countries, the five largest importers of Georgian wine have not changed. During the reporting period, Russia was leading by import of Georgian wine (21.3 million bottles), followed by Ukraine (8.3 million bottles), China (6 million bottles), Poland (3.2 million bottles) and Kazakhstan (2.9 million bottles).

About 302 companies are engaged in wine export in Georgia.

In addition, 23.8 million bottles of Georgian brandy were exported to 23 countries, which is a 52-percent increase over the same period in 2018. In monetary terms, brandy exports amounted to $50.8 million, which is 58 percent more than in the same period in 2018.

During the reporting period, 521,700 bottles of vodka were exported to 27 countries, which is 62 percent more than in the same period in 2018. In monetary terms, exports of vodka amounted to $1.5 million, which is 58 percent more than in 10 months of 2018.

In total, the export of wine, brandy, and vodka in the reporting period amounted to $284 million, which is 12 percent more than in 10 months of 2018.
