Output of finished metal products grows in Azerbaijan

From January through October 2019, the volume of production in the metallurgical industry in Azerbaijan amounted to 434.8 million manat ($256.3 million), decreasing by 12.6 percent compared to the same period last year, Trend reports referring to the country’s State Statistical Committee.

The production of finished metal products increased by 83.5 percent, amounting to 195.8 million manat ($115.4 million); accordingly, the overall growth in the industry increased by 35.5 percent, amounting to 630.7 million manat ($371.7 million).

In total, from January through October 2019, 280,600 tons of steel were smelted in Azerbaijan (a decrease by 16.2 percent). Furthermore, 255,000 tons of fittings (a decrease by 4.1 percent), 39,300 tons of steel pipes (a decrease of 4.9 percent), 5,800 tons of wire rod (an increase of 7.5 percent) and 593.8 tons of rods, shafts and profiles (a decrease of 11.2 percent) were produced.

The production of primary alloys of raw aluminum decreased by 16 percent to 28,700 tons.

In the reporting period, prefabricated building constructions made of ferrous metals worth 26.1 million manat ($15.3 million) were manufactured (an increase of 86.2 percent) and 18,800 tons of other structures made of ferrous metals were produced (an increase of 2.5 times). The production of flexible wires, cables and bare cables made of copper amounted to 4,080 tons, showing a decline of almost two times.
