Output of finished metal products grows in Azerbaijan

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Dec. 18

From January through November 2019, the volume of production in the metallurgical industry in Azerbaijan amounted to 686.8 million manat ($404.8 million), decreasing by 11.7 percent compared to the same period of last year, Trend reports referring to the country’s State Statistics Committee.

The production of finished metal products increased by 82.4 percent, amounting to 214.6 million manat ($126.5 million); accordingly, the overall growth in the industry increased by 35.5 percent, amounting to 901.4 million manat ($531.2 million).

In total, from January through November 2019, 303,200 tons of steel were smelted in Azerbaijan (a decrease by 15.6 percent). Furthermore, 278,300 tons of fittings (a decrease by 2.6 percent), 46,800 tons of steel pipes (an increase of 6.9 percent), 6,800 tons of wire rod (an increase of 22.9 percent) and 877.3 tons of rods, shafts and profiles (an increase of 21.6 percent) were produced.

The production of primary alloys of raw aluminum decreased by 21 percent to 30,700 tons.

In the reporting period, prefabricated building constructions made of ferrous metals worth 29.7 million manat ($17.5 million) were manufactured (an increase of 84.2 percent) and 20,200 tons of other structures made of ferrous metals were produced (an increase of 2.2 times). The production of flexible wires, cables and bare cables made of copper amounted to 4,220 tons, showing a decline of almost two times.
