Turkmenistan discussing industrial development co-op with UN

A meeting was held in the Turkmen Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs (UIET) with Chief of the Europe and Central Asia Division of UNIDO (United Nations Industrial Development Organization) Jacek Cukrowski, Trend reports referring to the UIET.

The parties discussed the possibility of establishing bilateral contacts on a wide range of areas.

Cukrowski noted the systematic approach of Turkmenistan to the implementation of tasks in the field of industrial development, as well as the fruitful cooperation of UNIDO with government agencies in the textile and carpet industries, the report said.

The UIET informed about the organization’s activities and major projects being implemented by local entrepreneurs in various fields.

UNIDO assisted Turkmenistan in a project to implement the Montreal Protocol on Substances that Deplete the Ozone Layer.

Since 2012, a state program has been implemented on the decommissioning of hydrochlorofluorocarbons, the purpose of which is to carry out measures that allow only recycled and recovered substances to be used after 2020 and their complete withdrawal from circulation by Jan. 1, 2040.
