Iran's export to China drops

TEHRAN, Iran, April 15

Trend:

Iran's export to China has reduced due to coronavirus spread, Head of Iran-China Joint Chamber of Commerce Majid Reza Hariri told Trend.

"There are guidelines for the trade and economic ties between Iran and China that can not be revealed due to the US sanctions and national interests of the economy; therefore, there was a possibility of rumors around the issue," Hariri said.

"The trade between the two countries has been affected by the coronavirus spread, but there is no problem in bank transactions with China's Kunlun Bank," he said.

"So far, no statistics have been released over the trade volume; the Chinese customs only released data on transactions in the first two months of the year," the head of the chamber said. "These statistics indicate a 25-percent fall of trade between the two countries."

"The main reason for the reduction is the declining value of Iran's export goods to China; furthermore, the prices of oil products, as well as petrochemical and mineral materials that are considered major export goods have also dropped sharply ," he said.
