Irrigation systems launched in Iran's Sistan and Baluchestan Province

BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 12

Modern irrigation systems have been put into operation on 1,300 hectares agricultural land in Deleghan county of Sistan and Baluchestan province in southeastern Iran, Trend reports citing the Ministry of Agriculture Jihad of Iran.

Speaking at the event on the commissioning of these systems, director of the Sistan and Baluchestan province Agriculture Department Gholam Heidar Zoraghi said that more than 142 billion rials (about $3.3 million) have been spent on the commissioning of modern irrigation systems.

According to Zoraghi, in general, it is planned to provide 100,000 hectares of land in Sistan and Baluchestan province with modern irrigation systems.

Minister of Agriculture Jihad Kazem Khavazi, said that so far, 2.4 million hectares of land in Iran have been provided with modern irrigation systems.

According to Khavazi, more than 1.1 million hectares of it were provided with new irrigation systems during the current Iranian government (the current Iranian government has been in power since 2013).
