Oil output at Kazakhstan's major oil fields exceeds planned volume

BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 18

Kazakhstan oil and condensate output amounted to 31.3 million tons over the period from Jan. through Apr. 2020, which is 2.6 percent more than the planned volume and 5.9 percent more than during the same period of last year, Kazakhstan’s Vice Minister of Energy Asset Magauov said, Trend reports.

Magauov made the statement during a press briefing held on May 18, 2020.

He said that 10.2 million tons of the volume accounted for country’s Tengiz oil and gas field, which is 4.1 percent more than the planned volume and 3 percent more than during the same period of 2019.

Production at Kashagan field was 5.8 million tons during the first four months of 2020, which is 11.5 percent more than the planned volume and 48 percent more than during the same period of 2019.

Output at Karachaganak field amounted to 4.2 million tons, which corresponds to the planned volume and 5 percent more than during the same period of 2019.

Oil refining volume amounted to 5.2 million tons over the reporting period of 2020, which is 5.2 percent less than during the same period of 2019. Magauov said that the decrease was due to Pavlodar refinery shutting its operations for a planned overhaul.

He also said that oil refining at Pavlodar refinery amounted to 1.6 million tons over the reporting period, which is 9.6 percent less than during the same period of 2019.

Refining at Shymkent refinery was 1.5 million tons, which is 9.7 percent less than during the same period of 2019. Refining at Atyrau refinery amounted to 1.7 million tons, which is 1.3 percent more than during the same period of 2019.
