Azerbaijan Pomegranate Producers and Exporters Association plans to bring export value to $24 million in 2020, Chairman of the association Farhad Garashov told Trend.

In 2019, the country’s revenues from pomegranate export reached $17 million, the chairman said.

The Azerbaijani pomegranate and its products were exported mainly to Russia, Canada, the US, Germany, Finland, Latvia, Lithuania, Ukraine, Poland, Czech, France, Denmark, Australia and China.

“Russia's interest in importing the Azerbaijani pomegranate and its products keeps increasing. Naturally, we are doing the best to expand the export borders of our products and are constantly working to expand cooperation,” he said.

The chairman stressed that France also expressed interest in increasing the import of Azerbaijani pomegranate, and the association has already taken appropriate measures to enlarge export to this country.

In 2019, the association was extremely beneficial, so the number of members of the organization increased almost 10 times. By the end of 2019, the number of association’s members grew to 345 compared to 34 in 2018. The association also works closely with international organizations on developing pomegranate production.
