By Ilkin Seyfaddini - Trend:

Uzbek textile products are in demand in the French market, first and foremost, for their environmental friendliness and competitiveness, a representative of Uzbekistan textile and garment industry Association's press service (Uztextileprom) told Trend in an interview.

Uzbekistan has been widely demonstrating local textiles at international exhibitions and fairs, said the company.

Representative also added, that Uzbekistan is a permanent participant of over 20 international exhibitions in the CIS, the EU, the US, China, Korea and Japan. Moreover, in order to encourage the industry to participate in international exhibitions, the Export Promotion Agency of Uzbekistan compensates part of the companies' participation costs.

“We have seen French companies being interested in our products, during their participation in the international exhibition Premier Vision Paris, Tex World Paris, the permanent participants of which are Uztextilprom Association and enterprises of the industry,” said the association's representative.

The rep said that currently, the enterprises of the Uzbek industry are in negotiations with French Advantage Central Asia company, for the production and delivery of masks and jumpsuits to France. In this connection, together with the Embassy of Uzbekistan in France, a number of videoconferences with French companies, interested in cooperation, have been held.

"Many famous brands of the EU, CIS, Korea and Japan have shown great interest in establishing cooperation with Uzbek manufacturers. Such brands include Inditex, Hugo Boss, IKEA, Russian retailers and others," representative said.

The Government of Uzbekistan is working on obtaining GSP+ status for Uzbek textile products, which will allow exporting the products to the EU market without duties. At present, Uzbekistan enjoys GSP preferences.

“We expect that with the decision of obtaining GSP+ beneficiary country status, textile exports to the EU will increase several times,” noted representative of Uzbekistan textile and garment industry Association.
