Uzbekistan sells state shares of sewing complex in Khorezm region

State Assets Management Agency of Uzbekistan sold state shares of sewing complex in Khorezm region, Trend reports citing the agency.

Sewing complex in Gurlan district of Khorezm region was sold at online auction for 95.9 billion soums ($9.3 million).

The enterprise, built in 1996, was put up for sale on E-Auksion platform on May 22, 2020, and bought by Uzbek Gurlan Global Teks LLC.

In December 2019, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev ordered to significantly reduce the state's share in the economy. Draft strategy for the period from 2020 through 2025, a privatization plan and rules of introduction of corporate governance have been developed.

It is planned to reduce the number of enterprises with state participation by 81 percent, to leave the state only 554 enterprises, and sell the rest.
