More than 2.22 million tons of steel products including steel ingots, fittings and steel sheets are produced every year in Iran's Gilan Province, Deputy Chairman of Industry, Mine and Trade Organization of Gilan Province Amin Purjedi said, Trend reports referring to Shata news agency.
Purjedi said that there are about ten large steel enterprises in Iran's Gilan Province, and it is among the top four in terms of production in the country.
He added that there are 56 mines operating in Gilan Province.
The deputy chairman stressed that the steel products are supplied to Gilan and other provinces of Iran.
"Some of these products are exported; for example, 6,000 tons of fittings are exported every year to Iraq, Afghanistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and Pakistan," he said.
