The products worth $518 million exported from Aras Free Trade and Industrial Zone in East Azerbaijan Province to more than 10 countries in the last Iranian (from March 21, 2019 to March 20, 2020), Managing Director of Aras Free Trade and Industrial Zone Mohsen Nariman told journalists, Trend reports citing IRNA.
According to Nariman, these products were mainly exported to Azerbaijan, Turkey, Russia, Iraq, Afghanistan, Georgia, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan and China.
Nariman added that the exports from the Aras Free Trade and Industrial Zone are divided into three parts: definitive exports, re-exports, and exports to the mainland.
Definitive exports from the zone amounted to $126 million in the last Iranian year, which is an increase of 36 percent compared to the preceding Iranian year (from March 21, 2018 to March 21, 2019), the director said.
Nariman stressed that last year, $145 million worth of products were re-exported from the zone showing a 3.83-percent increase compared to the preceding Iranian year.
"Last year, $159 million worth of products were exported from the Aras Free Trade and Industrial Zone to the mainland. This is an increase of 39 percent compared to the preceding Iranian year," he added.
Iran's Aras Free and Industrial Trade Zone is located 130 km northwest of Tabriz city, the center of East Azerbaijan Province and covers an area of 56,000 hectares.
