It’s planned to open new enterprises for the production of dried and frozen persimmons in order to increase the production of local products and meet demand in the domestic market of Azerbaijan, Gadir Yusifov, Chairman of the Persimmon Producers and Exporters Association, told Trend.
Yusifov said that the plant for the production of dried and frozen persimmons is planned to be built in Samukh, Ganja and Balakan cities.
The productivity of the workshop on production of the dried persimmon will be 10 tons per month, he said.
The chairman highlighted the existence of several workshops for the production of dried persimmons in Goychay and Balakan districts.
“In order to increase the productivity of dried and frozen persimmons, it’s necessary to increase productivity by expanding the planting area. The Association has already taken the necessary measures to implement this task,” Yusifov added.
The Persimmon Producers and Exporters Association of Azerbaijan was created in August 2017 on the initiative of entrepreneurs and with the support of the Ministry of Economy.
The main objectives of the association are to increase the production of competitive and export-oriented products, as well as increase persimmon exports. Income from exports in 2019 significantly exceeded revenues for 2018, amounting to $114 million.
