Poultry meat production to go up in Kazakhstan as capacities expanded

BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 1

By Nargiz Sadikhova - Trend:

Poultry meat production has increased by 6.3 percent in Kazakhstan over first five months of 2020 having amounted to nearly 100,000 tons of end-product, Trend reports with reference to the press office of Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Healthcare.

The ministry said that the poultry meat output forecast for 2020 is 300,000 tons.

“A total of 223,000 tons of poultry meat was produced in Kazakhstan in 2019, and 192,000 tons in 2018. Due to the steady increase in production, the share of poultry meat imports to Kazakhstan decreased from 49 percent in 2018 to 45 percent in 2019,” the ministry said.

The ministry said that output growth has been achieved by implementation of the poultry industry development program.

In particular, measures are being taken to finance the construction of new and modernization of existing poultry farms within the framework of the poultry development program for further import substitution of poultry meat.

Currently, construction of five poultry farms is underway in Kazakhstan. Work is also underway on restoration of poultry farms in Almaty (OTAN Green Food LLP), in Atyrau (Meken Chicken LLP) and in Kostanay (Komsomolskaya Poultry LLP) regions.
